Useful Tools - Surveying

You will often come across seemingly obscure or archaic terms for area and length in title deeds, folio maps and other old land registration documents. While it is of immense value to have an accurate survey to record the property you own or are planning to buy, these tools can give you an indication of the metric equivalents for older measurements.

The Imperial system of measurements was used in Ireland both before independence and for the first fifty years afterwards. In 1971 currency was decimalised, with other measures following. Most recently Speed limits on roads went metric in 2005.

Here you can find some easy to use tools to convert between Imperial and Metric units of measurement.
